This volume contains up-to-date contributions written by leading experts in the role played by various microorganisms in psychiatric and neurological illness. This is followed by historical and epidemiological perspectives of the role of viruses in psychiatric illness. Subsequent chapters focus on different classes of microorganisms and psychiatric illnesses and emphasize diverse research approaches ranging from preclinical models to therapeutic interventions.
