This open access book investigates how trade unions representing different social classes use YouTube videos for renewal purposes. Information and communication technology has undoubtedly offered new opportunities for social movements, but while research suggests that these new means of communication can be used for trade union revitalization, few studies have examined what unions actually do on social media.By analysing more than 4500 videos that have been uploaded by Swedish trade unions, Jansson and Uba explore how unions use YouTube to address issues such as recruiting new members, improving internal democracy, promoting political campaigns and constructing (new) self-images. The results demonstrate that trade unions representing a range of social classes use different revitalization strategies via YouTube.This research will be of use to students and scholars researching European politics and political participation, trade unionismand labour movements in the digital age.

The employment contract has, in a relatively short time, developed into the atom of the normative structuralization of labour relations. Its basic form may be simple, directed at restricting the scope of respective commitments to the exchange of labour for money. But the employment contract has meanwhile been developing into a junction of ever more complicated normative arrangements, thereby absorbing all kinds of matter that were initially left out of its scope. It has become a 'heavy' legal form, in particular because welfare states have used the employment contract as a point of application for socio-economic policies. <BR>Is the employment contract being overloaded? Are there significant changes in what matter is being excluded from, and what is being included in the employment relation? <BR>In this book the employment contract is analysed from the perspective of inclusion and exclusion (as to its form, its content, and the working persons to be covered). The first part of the book contains an introduction to this perspective, to the history of the labour contract, and to developments in labour law in The Netherlands. In part two, the perspective is applied to four fields of regulation that are linked to the employment contract (regarding sickness, care, training and pensions), on the basis of an analysis of developments in the Netherlands during the last 25 years. The book contrasts them with developments in other European countries and relates them to international law. Die traditionelle Produktionstheorie wird mit ihrem deskriptiven Charakter in der Regel lediglich als Grundlage zielorientierter Entscheidungsmodelle gesehen. Eine Unterstützung des Entscheiders bei der möglichst rationalen Auswahl eines bezüglich seiner Zielsetzung optimalen Prozesses bleibt hingegen meist aus. Nicht nur in der Produktionstheorie lassen reale Entscheidungssituationen zudem aufgrund konfligierender Zielsetzungen und Interessen sowie der Komplexität des Entscheidungsfeldes regelmäßig nur unvollständig Präferenzrelationen zu. Diese Arbeit bereitet die Produktionstheorie so auf, daß sich sowohl die Ziele und Präferenzen des Produzenten als auch der Grad der Vollständigkeit der Information angemessen berücksichtigen lassen. Die Arbeit baut dabei auf dem 3-Ebenen-Modell von Dyckhoff auf. Sie expliziert und erweitert die dort implizite Entscheidungsorientierung.
