Psychotherapy

This book is about an intensive form of peacemaking interaction, in which the disputing parties agree to take time out from the routine of their daily life in order to negotiate solutions to their conflict. This book was written to introduce a powerful mechanism for conflict resolution - Solution-Focused Negotiation.Dr. Sapir Handelman has led, directly and indirectly, dozens of face-to-face and online Solution-Focused Negotiations. Dr. Handelman, his colleagues and students have helped many people to successfully resolve their conflicts. The cases presented here reflect tensions, frictions and struggles in nearly all dimensions of social life, from family disputes to politics. The goal of this book is to share this knowledge, experience and expertise with scholars, practitioners and the general public.

This book offers a unique glimpse into the world of culturally diverse psychotherapists by exploring the professional experiences of Latino clinicians. Through their narratives, these therapists provide distinct and essential case studies that emphasize the significance of their identities as catalysts for transformation within the field of mental health. Rich with real-world examples, this book captures pivotal moments in the lives of these therapists, presented in narrative or testimonio formats.By incorporating these personal experiences, the book contributes significantly to the processes of decolonization and the re-centering of power within marginalized communities. It acknowledges the complex dynamics these individuals navigate as they interact with various systems, offering fertile ground for growth and change. These clinicians represent a range of identities, including first-generation immigrants, individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds, first-generation college attendees, Latinx individuals, bilingual practitioners, and those with bicultural backgrounds.

This book is a guide for child psychotherapists interested in applying clinical behavioral analysis to their work and for clinical behavior analysts working with children. In the literature of behavior analysis, a considerable number of publications present clinical strategies to more effectively conduct therapeutic interventions with adults and adolescents, but there is still a lack of publications that address practical aspects of the work of the child behavior analytic therapist. This volume aims do fill this void by bringing together chapters written by therapists who share their views on theoretical and practical aspects of child care and describe the stages and challenges of the psychotherapy process with clients of up to 12 years of age. Chapters in this volume provide an overview of the specific knowledge and techniques clinical behavior analysts need to master to work with children, such as theories of child development from the perspective of behavior analysis; biological influences on the development of child behavior; clinical assessment and definition of therapeutic goals in the work with children; how to include functional play in clinical settings; and how to involve parents and the school in the therapeutic process. Additionally, specific chapters focus on the application of third wave behavioral therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy, to the clinical work with children.Clinical Behavior Analysis for Children will be a valuable resource for psychotherapists and clinical psychology students looking for a guide to understand the specificities of clinical behavior analysis applied to child psychotherapy.

This book offers an understanding of subjective well-being (SWB) in the Indian context across ages and strata. It discusses the conceptualization and measurement of both subjective well-being (SWB) and subjective ill-being (SIB) through a multi-phased research study. The structure of SWB and development, standardization, and indexing of an SWB Measure provide insights on how the SWB Measure can enable nations to find out the national level of SWB/SIB for its citizens. The index may be useful in identifying the level of people's well-being or ill-being. It explores the possibility of implications and interventions in optimizing SWB both at the individual and collective levels. It is a consolidated account of the work done in SWB research, particularly with a cultural focus from the Indian context. This book has a wide application for students, researchers, psychometricians, practitioners, policymakers, and all individuals interested in concepts like SWB and Happiness.

Knowledge of the diagnosis, therapy and compensation of memory disorders of various causes significantly improves the therapeutic options. Volker Völzke imparts in this essential practice-related basic knowledge: What diagnostics and what tools are available and what do memory deficits mean for therapy and counselling? Can psychotherapy with people with memory disorders be carried out successfully at all? How can people who care for patients with memory disorders be given qualified support and advice?
