Victoria Amelina - Ukrainische Autorin, Dichterin und Menschenrechtsaktivistin, geboren 1986 in Lviv, gestorben am 1. Juli 2023 in Dnipro. Romane und Kinderbücher, eine Sammlung ihrer Gedichte erschien posthum. 2021 gründete sie in dem Ort Nju-Jork im Donezk das New York Literature Festival. 2023 gab sie das Kriegstagebuch des Anfang 2022 von russischen Soldaten ermordeten Kinderbuchautors Wolodymyr Wakulenko heraus. Der Roman erzählt die Geschichte einer Familie im ukrainischen Lwiw. Sie erlebt hier den Zerfall der Sowjetunion und die wilden 1990er. Erzählt wird die Geschichte aus der Perspektive eines Hundes , der zusammen mit sechs Menschen einer Familie in einer heruntergekommenen Altbauwohnung lebt. Es sind die Mitglieder einer typischen Sowjetfamilie, die hier die Umbrüche durchzustehen versuchen: Ein pensionierter Oberst der sowjetischen Luftwaffe, der aus der Ostukraine stammt und als Kind den Holodomor überlebte; seine aus Aserbaidschan stammenden Ehefrau, deren Töchter Olja und Tamara, beide geschieden, mit ihren Töchtern Marusja und Mascha. Es ist eine große Erzählung über Veränderungen, über Anpassungen, über Heimat und Zuhause, über Ankommen und Weggehen.

La testimonianza dell'attivista e scrittrice uccisa nel raid russo a Kramatorsk. È il 17 febbraio 2022 e Victoria Amelina è in partenza con il figlio per una breve vacanza in Egitto. La situazione in Ucraina è precaria, tutti parlano di una mossa imminente della Russia, ma nessuno sa con certezza quando avverrà. Al momento, nella vita di Victoria ci sono delle novità positive: sta scrivendo un romanzo, sta organizzando un festival di letteratura e sta prendendo i primi contatti con Truth Hounds, una ONG che si occupa di raccogliere le testimonianze delle vittime di guerra.
