'A great accomplishment . . . A wonderful reflection of an extraordinary sweep of history' Barack Obama<BR><BR>Timely, intimate and important, the long-awaited memoirs from one of the most influential leaders of our times<BR><BR>For 16 years, Angela Merkel was Chancellor of Germany. She also shares recollections and insights from her meetings and conversations with the world's most powerful people. Discussing significant national, European, and international turning points, she shows how the decisions were made that shaped our times. The searing, must-read feminist essay from the author of A Girl is a Half-formed Thing<BR><BR>'Fearless ... A fierce and fascinating manifesto in McBride's persuasive prose' Sinéad Gleeson<BR><BR>'Formidable' Vogue<BR><BR>In this galvanizing essay, Eimear McBride unpicks the contradictory forces of disgust and objectification that control and shame women. From playground taunts of 'only sluts do it' but 'virgins are frigid', to ladette culture, and the arrival of 'ironic' porn, via Debbie Harry, the Kardashians and the Catholic church - she looks at how this prejudicial messaging has played out in the past, and still surrounds us today. <BR><BR>McBride asks - are women still damned if we do, damned if we don't? How can we give our daughters (and sons) the unbounded futures we want for them? And, in this moment of global crisis, might our gift for juggling contradiction help us to find a way forward?<BR><BR>'A satisfying feminist polemic' Susie Orbach<BR><BR>'Remarkable' Scotsman<BR><BR>'Eimear McBride is that old fashioned thing, a genius' Guardian

This book contains a selection of papers from the workshop Women in the History of Analytic Philosophy held in October 2019 in Tilburg, the Netherlands. It is the first volume devoted to the role of women in early analytic philosophy. It discusses the ideas of ten female philosophers and covers a period of over a hundred years, beginning with the contribution to the Significs Movement by Victoria, Lady Welby in the second half of the nineteenth century, and ending with Ruth Barcan Marcus's celebrated version of quantified modal logic after the Second World War. The book makes clear that women contributed substantially to the development of analytic philosophy in all areas of philosophy, from logic, epistemology, and philosophy of science, to ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of language. It illustrates that although women's voices were no different from men's as regards their scope and versatility, they had a much harder time being heard. The book is aimed at historians of philosophy and scholars in gender studies

This is the story of Sabine Fröhlich and the harrowing experiences of her family during the Nazi regime - experiences she did not disclose to her children for decades. Sabine was raised as Catholic with her brother Andreas. As a result, she did not understand that the rapidly emerging antisemitic propaganda would be applied to her family, including her father, a decorated German WWI veteran. She first becomes aware of her Jewish heritage when her brother is not allowed to join the popular Hitler Youth. After Kristallnacht, her family flees Germany hoping for US visas, only to become trapped in the Netherlands when the Germans invade.<BR>In June 1941, the Nazis seize her brother as hostage for an act of sabotage, deporting him to Mauthausen where he perishes within months. As the mass deportation of Jews from Amsterdam accelerates, Andreas' friends help Sabine and her parents find hiding places in the North Holland countryside where they live under false names and must move multiple times for their safety.<BR>Sabine's Odyssey is a beautifully painful memoir written by Agnes Schipper in honor of her mother's life during World War II and of her father, a member of the Dutch Resistance. In it, Agnes retells the story of her mother's struggles during her hidden years. Yet this is not merely a story of struggle, but one of kindness, courage, and resistance. This memoir gives voice to those who stayed silent for years.

This book offers a historical exploration of the genesis of feminist economics and gender economics, as well as their theoretical and methodological differences. Its narrative also serves to embed both within a broader cultural context.
