German edition Villa Silberblick where a mentally deranged Friedrich Nietzsche spent the final years of his life, was originally a middle-class home. Nietzsche's sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche not only looked after her ill brother but also exploited the cult-like admiration the philosopher enjoyed for her own ends and installed the Nietzsche Archive in the building. Initially very popular amongst Europe's avant-garde later Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche allowed the archive to be instrumentalized by the National Socialists before it became a taboo topic in the GDR. This book focuses on the Heritage Conservation of Architecture, Historic Districts of a City and Conservation strategies with specific case studies from India, in order to highlight the need for conserving the rich piece of history through research, education, advocacy, and practice. The historic significance and the condition mapping of the subjects are carried out through primary field studies by the authors at School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, India. This book investigates energy use and measures to improve the energy efficiency of public housing, using post-war social housing development estates in Cyprus as its example. On this Mediterranean island, which experiences hot and humid temperatures throughout the year, residential buildings need to adapt to the climate to improve the thermal comfort of their occupants. The book assesses the domestic energy use of inefficiently built residential tower blocks and their occupants' thermal comfort by considering the significant impact of overheating risks on energy consumption and occupants' thermal comfort and well-being, with the intention of evaluating the current energy performance of base-case representative residential tower blocks (RTBs). In particular, considering the cooling energy demand in the summer, using Famagusta, Cyprus as a case study. It seeks to identify the impact of occupancy patterns and habitual adaptive behaviour of households on home energy performance in order toprovide bases for the information needed to calibrate building energy performance of targeted households.

Im Spätherbst finden seit dem Jahr 2000 regelmäßig Tage der Landesgeschichte in der Festung Dömitz statt, bei denen Historikerinnen und Historiker der Universität Rostock und der Regionen des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern über relevante Themen der Landesgeschichte referieren und diskutieren. Der fruchtbare Erfahrungsaustausch wird durch das Ambiente der Festung sehr gefördert. Der Band 18 ist dem Buchdruck in Mecklenburg gewidmet. Die hier veröffentlichten vier Beiträge reichen vom Beginn des Buchdrucks in Rostock im 15. Jahrhundert durch die Brüder vom Gemeinsamen Leben über den bedeutenden Rostocker Buchdrucker Lucius im 16. Jahrhundert bis zum Schweriner Buchdrucker Bärensprung im 18. Jahrhundert. Der vierte Beitrag stellt eine Offiziersbibliothek in Schwerin am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts vor.
