As Islamic finance experiences rapid growth, its advocates are touting it as an ethical alternative to existing financing practices. This handbook elucidates the theoretical and ethical foundations of Islamic economics and finance, demonstrating how it can promote economic and social justice, and thus usher in an equitable society.

This book is about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad on himself and our Creator and was published by me here for you to know this form of communication does exist where he can write verbatim for me and so can Allah and others and I don't profess to be the author, just their pen though they do use my intellect and heart when they write things for us. Omar.

This book discusses financial inclusion, gender equality, regulatory regimes for microfinance, women empowerment, and digital finance from an Islamic perspective. It encourages the reader to reflect on whether the delivery of financial services from an Islamic perspective might be attainable and lead to achieving global financial inclusion. Accessing financing is one of the most formidable challenges facing disadvantaged in IsDB member countries. The race to serve these niche markets has led to the emergence of conventional microfinance. There remains the lingering question of whether conventional microfinance in its current form has conclusively led to poverty alleviation among Muslim communities. Hence, there is a need of having Shari'ah-compliant business model that depends on Islamic socio-economic tools such as Zakah, Sadaqah, and Waqf might best address the needs self-financial exclusion or the exclusion of the extremely poor in Muslim.

Home to the largest Muslim minorities in Western Europe and Asia, France and India are both grappling with crises of secularism. In Politicizing Islam, Fareen Parvez offers an in-depth look at how Muslims have responded to these crises, focusing on Islamic revival movements in the French city of Lyon and the Indian city of Hyderabad. Presenting a novel comparative view of middle-class and poor Muslims in both cities, Parvez illuminates how Muslims from every social class are denigrated but struggle in different ways to improve their lives and make claims on the state. In Hyderabad's slums, Muslims have created vibrant political communities, while in Lyon's banlieues they have retreated into the private sphere. Politicizing Islam elegantly explains how these divergent reactions originated in India's flexible secularism and France's militant secularism and in specific patterns of Muslim class relations in both cities. This fine-grained ethnography pushes beyond stereotypes and has consequences for burning public debates over Islam, feminism, and secular democracy.

Studying the Qur'an in the Muslim Academy examines what it is like to study and teach the Qur'an at academic institutions in the Muslim world, and how politics affect scholarly interpretations of the text. Guided by the author's own journey as a student, university lecturer, and researcher in Iran, Malaysia, and New Zealand, this book provides vivid accounts of the complex academic politics he encountered. Majid Daneshgar describes the selective translation and editing of Edward Said's classic work Orientalism into various Islamic languages, and the way Said's work is weaponized to question the credibility of contemporary Western-produced scholarship in Islamic studies. Daneshgar also examines networks of journals, research centers, and universities in both Sunni and Shia contexts, and looks at examples of Quranic interpretation there. Ultimately, he offers a constructive program for enriching Islamic studies by fusing the best of Western theories with the best philological practices developed in Muslim academic contexts, aimed at encouraging respectful but critical engagement with the Qur'an.

How can it be that the same story is found in Scotland and also in Pre-Columbian America? What can account for the durability and persistence of tales? Was the tale of Aladdin and his wondrous lamp really taken from Wales (where it has been found) to the ancient East and, if so, when and by whom? These questions and more are answered in Idries Shah’s remarkable volume World Tales, which is subtitled 'The extraordinary coincidence of stories told in all times, in all places.' In his introduction, Shah remarks,'Working for thirty-five years among the written and oral sources of our world heritage in tales, one feels a truly living element in them which is startlingly evident when one isolates the ‘basic’ stories; the ones which tend to have traveled farthest, to have featured in the largest number of classical collections, to have inspired great writers of the past and present.'

This impressive biographical work deftly weaves translated accounts from authentic Ottoman Turkish texts with ancient lore, resulting in a compelling, unforgettable portrait of the founder of Islam as seen through the eyes of Muslims around the world.

Jesus Christ (Prophet Isa) and Virgin Mary (Maryam) In Islam Religion Bilingual Edition English and SpanishThe Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews, who rejected Jesus as a prophet, called him an imposter, while the Christians, on the other hand, considered him to be the son of God and worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the greatest and most forbearing of prophets, in addition to Noah, Abraham, Moses and Muhammad, peace be upon them. Jesus is also considered to be the Messiah as well. This is in conformity with the Islamic view of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Divine guidance, and the complementary role of the subsequent mission of Gods messengers. The message of God to humanity, which is to worship God and God alone and to live according to His instruction, was revealed to Adam (peace be upon him), who passed it on to his children. All the subsequent revelations to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and, finally, Muhammad are in conformity with that message. Thus, Islam views any contradictions among revealed religions as man-made elements introduced into these religions. The position of Jesus in the three major creeds- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam- is not an exception.

Since no religious institution has emerged from Islamic religious history that is the sole and binding determinant of legitimate faith, Muslim scholars had to legitimize their religious positions in a different way. Canonisation and censorship processes, this volume argues, played a decisive role in the formation and deconstruction of religious authority. This volume therefore examines how texts, positions and the people behind them gain or lose their authority, and which structural, contextual and institutional factors contribute to the establishment or suppression, but also to the maintenance of this claim. Case studies from different historical periods and regions of the Islamic world show how certain religious beliefs gain legitimacy and others lose legitimacy in a specific historical context.

In contemporary Iran, commemorative rituals serve as spatio-temporal tools for fostering social bonds, yet they also represent contested spaces where the state and society negotiate power. The portrayal of the past by state institutions often clashes with how individuals remember, creating a conflictual dynamic. This dissertation investigates these dynamics, focusing on the interplay of competing worldviews. It examines how the Shi'i Weltanschauung of the Iranian state resonates with the younger generation raised in deeply religious contexts, particularly those born and educated in the first decade following the 1979 Revolution. It analyses how the state re-invents the sacred, deploying ideological platforms to reinforce its vision. It also explores how youth from aligned religious milieus interpret, experience, and remember this vision. These processes reveal how the generation constructs new, sometimes contradictory meanings within the Shi'a utopia the state claims to embody. Using grounded theory and qualitative interviews, this study highlights the divergences between the state's official narrative and individual memories, showcasing how micro-narratives express agency and resistance. Ultimately, it demonstrates how these narratives contribute to a shared generational knowledge that can challenge, transform, or even merge with the hegemonic Shi'a discourse at pivotal moments.

The book is a collective work that addresses a critical gap in understanding the role of Islamic populations in European history through their manuscript cultures. By examining a diverse array of Islamic texts-particularly those preserved only in manuscript form-this book highlights the multifaceted interactions between Islamic and European traditions. The volume offers case studies based on four thematic cores: cataloguing and describing manuscripts, analyzing manuscript circulation and textual traditions, studying various scripts, and conducting diachronic linguistic analyses. The chapters delve into manuscripts of the Tatars of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Ottoman influences on South-Slavic literature, and significant Arabic texts in European collections. This collective volume not only enriches the scholarship on European Islam but also serves as an essential resource for historians, linguists, and manuscript scholars interested in the complex legacies of multicultural exchanges in Europe.<BR>
