This book shows how different types of motion can be disambiguated into their components in a richer way than that currently possible in computer vision.Previous research of motion analysis has generally not yet considered the basic nature of higher orders of motion such as acceleration. Hence, this book introduces an approximation of the acceleration field using established optical flow techniques. Further, acceleration is decomposed into radial and tangential based on geometry and propagated as a general motion descriptor; this book shows the capability for differentiating different types of motion both on synthesized data and real image sequences.Beyond acceleration, the higher orders of motion flow and their continuant parts are investigated for further revealing the chaotic motion fields. Naturally, it is possible to extend this notion further: to detect higher orders of image motion. In this respect, this book shows how jerk and snap can be obtained from image sequences. The derived results on test images and heel strike detection in gait analysis illustrate the ability of higher-order motion, which provide the basis for the following research and applications in the future. We hope that the publication of this book will bring a new perspective to researchers and graduate students in the field of video analysis in computer vision.

With the increase in urban population, it became necessary to keep track of the object of interest. In favor of SDGs for sustainable smart city, with the advancement in technology visual tracking extends to track multi-target present in the scene rather estimating location for single target only. In contrast to single object tracking, multi-target introduces one extra step of detection. Tracking multi-target includes detecting and categorizing the target into multiple classes in the first frame and provides each individual target an ID to keep its track in the subsequent frames of a video stream. One category of multi-target algorithms exploits global information to track the target of the detected target. On the other hand, some algorithms consider present and past information of the target to provide efficient tracking solutions. Apart from these, deep leaning-based algorithms provide reliable and accurate solutions. But, these algorithms are computationally slow when applied in real-time. This book presents and summarizes the various visual tracking algorithms and challenges in the domain. The various feature that can be extracted from the target and target saliency prediction is also covered. It explores a comprehensive analysis of the evolution from traditional methods to deep learning methods, from single object tracking to multi-target tracking. In addition, the application of visual tracking and the future of visual tracking can also be introduced to provide the future aspects in the domain to the reader. This book also discusses the advancement in the area with critical performance analysis of each proposed algorithm. This book will be formulated with intent to uncover the challenges and possibilities of efficient and effective tracking of single or multi-object, addressing the various environmental and hardware challenges. The intended audience includes academicians, engineers, postgraduate students, developers, professionals, military personals, scientists, data analysts, practitioners, and people who are interested in exploring more about tracking.· Another projected audience are the researchers and academicians who identify and develop methodologies, frameworks, tools, and applications through reference citations, literature reviews, quantitative/qualitative results, and discussions.

This book looks at the application of cascaded interferometers in both theoretical and practical contexts, particularly focusing on enhancing image contrast and facilitating medical diagnostics. Commencing with a comprehensive exploration of modulated two-beam interference employing Fourier optics, it progresses to discuss the implementation of a cascaded Michelson interferometer, with a specialized emphasis on its utility in analyzing microscopic structures such as glass fibers. Subsequent chapters examine step-index fibers using multiple laser beam interferometry and introduce sophisticated models for interpreting fringe shifts in unclad glass fibers through ordinary multiple-beam interference. Moreover, the book addresses the recognition of modulated apertures employing a Cascaded Fabry-Perot Interferometer (CFPI) and discusses its implications for various applications. It looks at the processing of retinal artery images leveraging higher orders of two-beam interference and investigates the utility of cascaded interferometric techniques in examining kidney and colon images. Furthermore, it presents a novel approach to image processing of coronaviruses utilizing interferometry techniques, showcasing the potential of interferometric methods in medical research and diagnostics.Through its systematic exploration of cascaded interferometers and their diverse applications, this book is suited for researchers, practitioners, and students alike, offering insights into both fundamental principles and advanced methodologies in interferometry and medical imaging.
