Edizione in inglese. Traduzioni di Susan Ann White, Gavin Williams, Mark Eaton, Oona Smyth, Adam Victor e Sergio Knipe per conto di Scriptum, Roma. When you are working on self-publishing your book, you might have wondered to yourself, if only there were an analog solution to organize my self-publishing journey. Maybe if there were a workbook to work out my plan in, I could complete and finally publish my book. This workbook has to be an informative how-to, with a simple description of the requirements to self-publish my book. This book would give an overview of the types of services that are needed before I can publish my book, with a log to keep passwords for each of my publishing accounts. And because there can be so much to do, it would walk me through the production and editorial stages of publishing my book. This very useful book would touch on topics ranging from the editing stages and how to hire an editor, to the book cover and hiring an artist or illustrator, formator, and layout designer. It would inform me about how to build my book's metadata to help market my book. This amazing book would prompt me and give lots of space to write in my answers. And this book has got to have plenty of lined paper to take notes and dot grid paper for drawing and doodling. Also, to help me plan, this book must have a calendar, with a weekly planner for to-do lists. And when I am not sure what to do next, each week would have an activities list with suggestions for that week. This book would be a companion on my self-publishing journey. Not too small, at 6 by 9 inches, and large enough, with ample room to write out my ideas as they pop into my mind. I'd definitely keep it at my bedside, and it is something I'd surely take with me on the go- pack it in my tote, backpack, purse, man bag, etc. You never know when good ideas come up, so I'd use it to jot them all down on the train, at the beach or at work. I would love a journal like this. You got it! Self-Help for Self-Publishers is here!! I am a new author, for the fifth time now. I wrote Self-Help for Self-Publishers as the tool that I could use. I also wrote it for people like you, who aspire to the become an independent author too. For me, the experience of self-publishing a book is such a multifaceted experience- it can feel like the first time each time you publish. So I would not have to try and reinvent the wheel each time I self-published a new book, I designed my own self-help book. You can use it too. The information in this book is fundamental- it gives basic reminders for seasoned authors, and guidance for aspiring authors. We could all use some assistance organizing and planning our individual self-publishing journeys, in this ever changing industry. Self-Help for Self-Publishers is part how-to, workbook and planner. Use it as a how-to book to organize and planning your book, and a journal for productivity with prompts and useful tools. And it's a workbook within which to apply what you have learned. These are tools to help yourself first, before enlisting any paid services. Make notes, brainstorm, and journal your way to the successful completion of your book. Using this book, you will be prepared to provide what distributors ask for when it is time to upload your title.

This book is dedicated to monks, priests and priest-monks ("hieromonachoi") as copyists, readers, and owners of manuscripts in the Christian East. Did they only read and write, or did they also repair manuscripts? What texts did they copy? And what purpose did their books serve? By addressing these and related questions, alternating between overviews and case studies, the essays in this volume aim to shed new light on the cultural role of monks and clergy active in the Christian East-particularly in the Sinai and the Holy Land, with an additional focus on Antioch-between the 9th and the 16th centuries. Special attention is given to books written in Greek, Arabic, Syriac, and Georgian.

The anonymous Codex Wien, Austrian National Library, phil. gr. 65, is one of the most important late Byzantine mathematical manuscripts. Following the author's 2014 publication on the arithmetic, this is an annotated edition of folios IIv-9v, which, in the manuscript's current binding, precede the beginning of the arithmetic book. The content deals with perfect numbers in various interpretations and with topics for the (later!) addition of chapters to the arithmetic book from the core text (lattice multiplication, rule of nines, mental multiplication). The text is of paramount importance for fundamentally new insights, especially regarding the structure of the codex and its authorship. Therefore, the codex is bound incorrectly, and the Aristotle commentator and Metropolitan of Mytilene Leon Magentenos (first half of the 14th century), as incorrectly stated in the specialist literature on this manuscript, is to be excluded as a co-author.

'[The Art of the Book] reveals how, over 75 years, Thames & Hudson has changed the way we think about culture ... utterly absorbing and uplifting ... We need publishers like Thames & Hudson now, just as we did at the end of the second world war, to help us experience the best that humanity can achieve' Observer A celebration of 75 years of publishing at Thames & Hudson - a delight for bibliophiles, historians, art lovers and fans of the T&H brand. In 1949 Walter and Eva Neurath founded Thames & Hudson with a clear aim: to create a 'museum without walls' through books that would make art and scholarship accessible to all. This volume - the most comprehensive history of an illustrated publisher ever undertaken - tells through its books the history of a progressive, groundbreaking company that, 75 years later, remains true to those core founding ideals. The story of Thames & Hudson is the story of the illustrated book. This special publication, divided into three chronological chapters, provides a comprehensive delve into the company's history. An introduction and three essays by historian Anna Nyburg take us from its origins in Vienna on the cusp of the Second World War to the 1960s and a change in management, and to the new millennium and beyond. Thames & Hudson's rich output of groundbreaking and award-winning titles - ranging across the subjects of art, archaeology and architecture; history, design, photography and fashion - is celebrated in stunning pictorial spreads, as beautiful and compelling as the books themselves. The Art of the Book will be a valuable resource for those interested in the history of bookmaking and T&H's impact over the years, and a must-have for collectors, enthusiasts and anyone with an appreciation for the art and evolution of publishing.

In many European countries, librarians and researchers are working to compile a detailed bibliographic overview of early modern books printed within a defined time frame and within territorial and linguistical boundaries: they are creating modern retrospective 'national' bibliographies. The contributions from 14 countries in this publication illustrate this rich and diverse activity and demonstrate the various approaches in the digital age. Their approaches are anchored in the past, as each 'national' bibliography defines its scope within a careful analysis of the history of the country or nation, and rely on present-day cataloging, study of book history and new possibilities in the digital environment. The Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL) strongly supports data aggregation (as reflected in the data network it maintains) and data linking. Improved interoperability today supports opening of data and making it available beyond silos and databases. This is therefore a good time to provide an overview of the European data landscape for retrospective 'national' bibliographies, as these contain valuable and sustainable data with an impact on the semantic universe. They are closely related to research, are quality-controlled, provide reliable data and are rich in content. Their interaction with other library data, e.g. through authority control or thesauri, but also through copy-specific information, has the potential to considerably expand the role of retrospective bibliographies in the research areas. This will be a challenge for their ongoing development and sustainability and explains the title of this book Never Finish(ed) !
