The direct sequel to a classic photobook: an exceptional selection of photographs from Daido Moriyama's seminal magazine publication from 2017 to today. Between June 1972 and July 1973, Daido Moriyama produced his own magazine publication, Kiroku, which was then referred to as Record. It became a diaristic journal of his work as it developed. In 2006, encouraged by the Japanese publisher Akio Nagasawa, Moriyama was able to resume publication of Record. The first thirty issues of Record were edited by Mark Holborn into the now classic 2017 photobook of the same title. Daido Moriyama: Record 2, also edited by Mark Holborn, picks up from where the original left off, with a selection of images and texts by Moriyama from issues thirty-one to fifty of the magazine. With Moriyama now in his eighties, Record 2 will likely be the end of the story. But despite his advancing years, the work is unmistakably Moriyama's aesthetic - fiercely contrasted images with fragmentary, intensely composed frames that express the vision of one of the greatest photographers.

Master photographer Brassaï's seminal volume dedicated to street graffiti is back in print.

Brassaï celebrated the primal forces at play in the act of defacing a wall and the "magical" power of the symbols inscribed. A fundamentally human gesture, graffiti is a distillation of all aspects of life—from birth through love to death. This beautifully curated reissue includes a comprehensive selection of Brassaï's photographs of graffiti, facsimile pages from his sketchbooks, extracts from his conversations with Picasso, and several reworked translations of his essays on graffiti. An essential volume in the history of photography, this book is a tribute to Brassaï's extraordinary prescience and freedom of thought.

Stateside is Jackie Nickerson's sweeping, fragmented visual diary of a decade living and working across the USA.

From streetscapes in Chicago to military installations on Hawaii, from Utah landscapes to New York skyscrapers, Nickerson used whatever camera she had at hand-medium format, 35mm, point and shoot, iPhone-to fix raw glimpses of America at this peculiar, precarious time. Her focus was less on specific locations than on repeated motifs, as if these photos could have been taken virtually anywhere in America. Chainlink fences, basketball courts, suburban houses and classrooms, gas stations and even battleships become markers of sameness, and of the functionalism that fuel's America's economy. Unlike other photobooks that trace a journey through America, both as place and idea (most famously Robert Frank's The Americans and Joel Sternfeld's American Prospects), in Stateside Nickerson avoids "definitive" images on individual pages. Instead she made large prints of her work, hung them in an overlapping sequence on her studio wall, and then re-photographed them. The result is a compelling, ongoing narrative of the complex, troubled America of today.

With Surf Tribe, photographer Stephan Vanfleteren shows that there is far more to surf culture than just sport and competition. Surfing is also about a deep admiration and respect for the ocean, as well as the feeling of insignificance when confronted with the forces of nature. Surfers use the waves for fun, but also to forget and to battle, both with others and with themselves.

Vanfleteren looks beyond the traditional borders of the United States and Australia and searches the globe for people who live in places where sea and land meet. He documents a fluid community, with nature as its sole leader. He has sought out young talent, living icons, and old legends, both competitive and free surfers.

The photographs here are serene black and white portraits in Vanfleteren's well-known, haunting style; as always, he reaches below the surface and goes to the core of his subjects. Included, amongst many others, are Kelly Slater, Gerry Lopez, John Florence, Mickey Munoz, Filipe Toledo and Stephanie Gilmore.

Surfer, journalist, and actor Gerry Lopez has contributed the Foreword.

Surf Tribe has been exhibited in Knokke-Heist (Belgium), Kunsthal Rotterdam (Netherlands), Gallery Kahmann Amsterdam (Netherlands). The next exhibition will be in June 2019 in France. If you are interested in the stories behind the book, go to: www.surftribe.be

Building on the sensual style of The Last Days of Summer, this evocative collection of sunlit portraits celebrates the freedom and sensuality of life by the sea.In her latest volume, renowned photographer Akila Berjaoui turns her lens toward the timeless allure of the Mediterranean-its radiant light, sparkling coastlines, and bodies in harmony with their surroundings. Shot primarily on film and rendered in warm, grainy tones, the book follows Berjaoui's signature analog style, blending documentary immediacy with a painterly sense of composition. Photographed across iconic beach destinations, this visually rich series highlights the elemental connection between water, skin, and light. Her mostly female subjects exude quiet confidence and ease, their beauty revealed through gesture, shadow, and atmosphere. Berjaoui draws from the spirit of vintage beach culture while offering a perspective that feels instinctive and wholly her own-rooted in sensuality, nostalgia, and a reverence for the environment. These images will resonate with admirers of film-based imagery, retro travel style, and contemplative portraiture, as well as those drawn to themes of feminine presence and body positivity. Full-bleed compositions, sun-washed tones, and unhurried pacing give the book a dreamy, tactile presence-an object meant to be savored slowly and revisited often.

Nan Goldin's deeply personal exploration of female trauma and resistance. Sisters, Saints and Sibyls is a tribute 'to all rebellious women struggling to survive in society.' Focusing on the tragic life of her sister, Barbara, Nan Goldin weaves together a tapestry out of medical records, family photographs and mythical allusions to Saint Barbara to compose a haunting meditation on the mistreatment of female mental health in the twentieth century. Barbara's story is intertwined with Goldin's own descent into, and emergence from, addiction, shining a brutal light on the realities of trauma, abuse and mental illness. One of Nan Goldin's most important series, this timely publication is set to align with a major career retrospective opening at the Grand Palais, Paris, in March 2026.

Now available in a compact edition, the world's best drummers are showcased in this book of magnificent photographs and fascinating interviews by renowned photographer Deirdre O'Callaghan. The drummer is usually the least well-known member of any band. Yet behind every lead singer is the person keeping the beat, and often acting as the music's driving force. In these incredible portraits, Deirdre O'Callaghan places drummers squarely in the spotlight. Photographing her subjects in their private rehearsal spaces and residences-from studios, bedrooms, and basements to garages and gardens-allows her to capture the true essence of their personalities and lifestyles. She has photographed almost 100 celebrated musicians for the book, including Tony Allen, Ginger Baker, Travis Barker, Cindy Blackman, Patrick Carney, Terri Lyne Carrington, Chris Dave, Jack DeJohnette, Bryan Devendorf, Sly Dunbar, Steve Gadd, James Gadson, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Steve Jordan, Jim Keltner, Airto Moreira, Larry Mullen Jr., Neil Peart, Questlove, Jim Sclavunos, Ringo Starr, Lars Ulrich, Joey Waronker, and Jack White. Each image is accompanied by excerpts from O'Callaghan's personal conversations with the drummers. The result is a fascinating look at a truly diverse world made up of people from every walk of life, united by a single, emphatic passion.

Lee Friedlander's latest monograph captures the irony and complexity of American life, past and present.
How does the United States seem, at once, so small and big, quiet and loud, phony and true? In his first Aperture monograph, Life Still, Lee Friedlander (born in Aberdeen, Washington, 1934) reimagines the presentation of his oeuvre at age ninety-one, bringing together rarely seen and unpublished images from the past sixty years alongside new work to stage a visual dialogue between past and present. Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Hua Hsu observes how these stubborn paradoxes of the American consciousness-- the irony, humor, and self-conflict--remain as vivid today as they always have been. By seeing contradictions in the commonplace, Friedlander presents us with a book of enduring riddles about American culture.

Consisting of images photographed from the pages of antique ornithological volumes, this book is Clark Winter's tribute to the glorious world of exotic birds. In the eighteenth and nine- teenth centuries, explorers wandered the planet in search of the unknown, sometimes traveling for years with little commu- nication and guidance. Charles Darwin and his predecessors and contemporaries enjoyed a self-assured sense of purpose, though their actual knowledge during such journeys was often limited. When they returned home with specimens of hitherto unknown species of flora and fauna, all were astounded by such visual extravagance. Of birds in particular, their shapes, intricate color patterns and feathers were overwhelming—alternatively described as divinely inspired or the result of evolution and the battle for survival: a debate that continues to this day. With its intricate hand-colored illustrations, Birds is a testament to this lost sense of awe, one difficult yet not impossible to access in today's connected world.

Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat er zahlreiche Bücher herausgebracht, darunter "Power to the People: The World of the Black Panthers" und "Outside the Dream: Child Poverty in America."

These poems address the past and the now. For me, that's about it… - Jim Dine

Few contemporary artists can demonstrate an œuvre as varied, consistent and influential as that of Jim Dine—incorporating painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and photography, and sweeping across more than six decades. Fewer still can say they are respected poets. Dine has been writing and performing intensely autobiographical poems since the late 1960s, and With Fragile Spirit is his latest collection, consisting of five volumes. These differ greatly and include "A Beautiful Day," exploring Dine's polarities of experience from delight to melancholy, from disillusion to celebration; and "Like the Big Boy Tomato," a hand-written version of his 2021 hate poem "Electrolyte in Blue," probing themes of anti-Semitism, racism, climate change and failed world leaders. Together, these books affirm poetry as the unceasing critical flow that augments and energizes his visual work.

Brownie is a collection of photographs created by photographer David Katzenstein over ten years from 1979-89. With this series Katzenstein pays homage to the famous line of Brownie cameras introduced in 1900. He used its successor, the Kodak Dualflex, which followed in 1947. The result is a colourful, personal and sensitive view of the world.

Described by one critic as "Hot, lush and specific", the series starts in New York City and travels the globe to explore both distant places and the use of the Kodak Duaflex camera, launched in 1947 as an upgrade to the iconic Kodak Brownie cameras. Throughout the project, Katzenstein's goal was to embrace the camera's limitations as a means of pushing the boundaries of composition, juxtaposing foreground and background while heightening the use of colour. The superbly designed and produced publication is rounded with an introduction by Richard Grosbard.

This book presents over five decades of Clara Gutsche's photographic practice. Her journey in the photographic arts began in 1970 when she moved to Montreal from St. Louis and purchased a 35mm camera. Initially, Gutsche used photography to map and understand her new city and neighborhood. By 1972, she had embraced a new 4×5 view camera, a choice that would define her artistic style for decades. Gutsche's work often explores personal relationships, urban landscapes, architecture, and cultural values, with a focus on the realities behind appearances; in her words, "Whether I photograph people or uninhabited spaces, I attempt to map the inner landscape of emotions as well as describe specific places." Notable series include "Milton Park" (1970-73), which aimed to save a threatened Montreal neighborhood; "Convents" (1990-2009), a deep dive into communities of nuns in Quebec; and commissions to document both crumbling industrial infrastructure and the construction of Montreal's famed Canadian Centre for Architecture founded by Phyllis Lambert.

Co-published with Scotiabank Photography Award, Toronto
