Il mondo sfavillante (1668) è il primo romanzo utopicofantascientifico della letteratura inglese scritto da una donna. Al centro del racconto Cavendish pone le avventure straordinarie di un¿eroina indipendente ed ambiziosa alla quale affida il compito di aggredire a colpi di ironia e demolire con la forza di un pensiero anticonformista i modelli epistemologici e gli assunti ideologici della società patriarcale del suo tempo.
