Heart failure is an important and ever-expanding sub-speciality of cardiology. Many professional bodies working in healthcare are now developing specialist expertise in heart failure. With advances in medical therapy, the prognosis of the condition has improved dramatically. Whereas once heart failure was a pre-terminal diagnosis, now for many it is treatable. However, some patients remain symptomatic and at high risk of death despite maximal medical therapy. The new edition of Heart Failure comprehensively covers all aspects necessary to manage a patient with heart failure. It gives simple, clear advice on the diagnosis, investigation, and treatment options available highlighting the current evidence-base. As part of the Oxford Specialist Handbooks in Cardiology, the chapters provide concise and objective information to guide all healthcare professionals involved in the modern day multi-disciplinary management of the syndrome. Set out logically to mirror the patient journey in heart failure, this handbook facilitates the practice of optimal evidence-based management for heart failure patients. Ideal for trainee cardiologists, consultant cardiologists, care of the elderly and general physicians, cardiothoracic surgeons, primary care doctors, pharmacists and specialist nurses.

¿This is the second of a three-volume project aimed at providing unique case reports (20 cases per volume) of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias encountered in clinical practice. The book focuses on catheter ablation procedures of paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation of atypical atrial flutters. The cases presented were performed using the CARTO electro-anatomical mapping system, providing a high number of images to better understand arrhythmia features. The cases are built around high-quality figures acquired during the patients' hospitalization and relevant medical images, such as electrocardiograms, Holter ECGs, and MRI/CT scans. Short videoclips with activation maps of the atria or the ventricles during the studied arrhythmia complete the information provided. The chapters include questions and answers and key messages at the end of each case, making it an invaluable tool for cardiologists, clinical cardiac electrophysiologists, and interventionalcardiac electrophysiologists in training, as well as for anyone interested in learning more about the subject.

This book provides a comprehensive overview of the physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, medical and surgical management, and future therapies for tricuspid valve disease. It is divided into two sections. The first section covers the basics of the tricuspid valve, including anatomy, epidemiology, and clinical diagnosis with individual chapters focused on hemodynamics, echocardiography, MRI, and CT assessment. The second section examines current treatments for tricuspid valve disease including both surgical and medical management. It discusses special clinical scenarios of tricuspid valve pathology such as tricuspid regurgitation in patients with ICD and pacemaker implants and the role of tricuspid valve disease in patients with heart failure and LVAD therapy. Tricuspid Valve Disease: A Comprehensive Guide to Evaluation and Management is an essential resource for general cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and innovators in the field of structural heart disease.

This book presents a series of illustrative cases to highlight the decision-making process in pursuing an interventional management strategy and the procedural details of performing catheter-based interventions in patients with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). Each case provides a brief prior history of the patient, summary of current symptoms, pertinent physical examination findings, key imaging findings used to determine the indication for intervention as well as the technical feasibility of a transcatheter intervention. Potential management options and the rationale for why a transcatheter intervention was the optimal management strategy, and post-procedure management strategies are also discussed. Interventions in Adult Congenital Heart Disease: A Case-Based Approach provides a practical guide to successfully implementing a range of cardiac intervention management strategies, and is valuable resource for all cardiology practitioners and trainees seeking an up-to-date resource on the topic.

Cardiovascular disorder severity analysis in magnetic resonance images (MRI) involves using machine learning techniques to analyze MRI images and assess the severity of cardiovascular disorders. This approach utilizes deep learning algorithms, such as convolutional neural networks (CNN), for image analysis, segmentation, and feature extraction. The severity analysis involves quantifying the extent and location of damaged tissues, narrowing of blood vessels, and other pathological changes related to cardiovascular disorders. This analysis can aid in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning of patients with cardiovascular disorders. This method has several advantages, including the ability to detect subtle changes in MRI images that may be missed by human observers, the potential to provide more accurate and objective measures of disease severity, and the ability to integrate data from electronic health records and other sources. Overall, this approach has the potential to improve medical decision-making and provide more personalized care for patients with cardiovascular disorders, thus helping to reduce the burden of these conditions on individuals and society.
